Sailing Yacht or Catamaran Charter in St Lucia

St Lucia is one of the world's most popular destinations for a sailing holiday. In recent years, a high-quality tourism infrastructure has developed there. The peak season for a yacht charter in St Lucia is the winter months. At this time, the trade winds usually blow from the northeast. When sailing from St Lucia in summer, the winds come from the south-east.

The Windward Islands, of which St Lucia is a part, form the eastern border of the Caribbean Sea. When sailing on a southerly course, the wind tends to be rougher due to the north-south orientation of the islands and the north-east trade winds. This allows for fast sailing with a yacht or catamaran on longer passages between the Caribbean islands.

Martinique is the northernmost island of the Windwards. To the south are St Lucia, St Vincent, Union Island, and the Royal Island of Mustique. On Bequia, the remains of early lamentation motifs can be found. Further south is the spice island of Grenada. For snorkellers and diving enthusiasts, the island of Tobago is highly recommended. Infrastructure at Rodney Bay Marina

Rodney Bay Marina is in a sheltered bay in the northwest of the island of St Lucia. It is rated 5 Gold Anchor and is one of the best marinas in the Caribbean. The marina owes its fame to the transatlantic regatta "Atlantic Rally for Cruisers" (ARC). This regatta starts in Gran Canaria with 200 sailing yachts and more than 1,200 crew members and ends in St Lucia.

Rodney Bay Marina has 253 newly renovated moorings. These include 32 docks for mega yachts. The marina's own shipyard offers 120 spaces in the dry dock for the maintenance of sailing yachts. In addition, the marina has all the usual facilities and utilities. These include:

Shopping and Entertainment in St. Lucia

For those who like to go shopping in St Lucia, the Rodney Bay and Rodney Walk shopping centres are recommended. These are only 10 minutes away from the marina. In the evening, we recommend you visit the lively bars of St Lucia.

St Lucia also offers amazing music for its visitors. The St Lucia Jazz Festival is a highlight on the international music calendar, attended by thousands of jazz fans from all around the world. At the beginning of July, St Lucia celebrates Carnival. At the end of July you can see the festivities and floats on the main streets in Castries.

Getting to St. Lucia in the Caribbean

The northernmost airport on St Lucia, George Charles, is only 20 minutes from the marina. Hewanorra International Airport is approximately 1.5 hours away. If you arrive by plane, we are happy to recommend our external reliable taxi service, which will take you directly to the marina. If desired, please let us know at least one week before charter.
