Power supply on board with BOS lithium batteries
New partnership with BOS ensures hybrid power supply for Pitter Yachtcharter
To avoid the typical problems of pure lead systems, a technological approach is needed - this approach is a hybrid system consisting of lead and lithium batteries. About a year ago, at the time of the Kornati Cup 2023, we received the first orders from Pitter Yachtcharter. Some of the yachts were equipped with the LE300 Smart Battery System for the coming season. This is how the partnership between Pitter and BOS Balance of Storage Systems AG started.
💬 "The pilot phase went very well," says Ante Brzíc, COO of Pitter, "So well that we decided to equip a large part of our fleet with the LE300 battery."
The hybrid system has now been installed on over 65 Nautic Alliance yachts. As a result, numerous sailing boats taking part in the Kornati Cup 2024 have the LE300 lithium battery on board.
Convincing advantages of the LE300:
In addition to the simple installation and low financial investment compared to converting to pure lithium systems, the hybrid system consisting of lead-acid and lithium batteries offers further advantages of hybrid system .
➡️ Extended service lifespan
The introduction of the LE300 leads to an extended lifespan for the whole system of up to ten years. This is a significant improvement over traditional systems and guarantees a longer lifespan without the need for frequent replacement of the power supply.
➡️ Prevention of sulphation
The LE300's intelligent battery management system prioritizes the charging of the lead-acid battery to keep it in an optimal state of charge. This protects the battery from sulphation, one of the main reasons for premature failure of lead-acid batteries. The lithium battery takes on the daily loads, while the lead-acid battery is only used during discharge peaks.
➡️ More power, less maintenance
Due to the higher capacity of the entire system, customers can use more devices without running out of power. This not only reduces the amount of maintenance required on board, but also relieves the burden on staff who would otherwise be responsible for replacing the lead-acid batteries.
These points enable an improved customer experience, reduced workload and economic savings, ultimately bringing business benefits from which Pitter Yachtcharter has been profiting since 2023.
A central element of this successful cooperation is the common goal of customer satisfaction, the demand for high quality, as well as the promotion and implementation of innovative technologies.
All this out of a passion for sailing!
